The GIFAS Board of Administrators, made up of the directors of the member companies, determines GIFAS ' lines of action according to the common concerns of these companies.

The general management coordinates its work, which is based on the reflection of specialised Commissions and on the departments responsible for implementing the Board of Administrators decisions.

Within GIFAS, the Equipment industry leads a specific group, the GEAD: Group of Aeronautical and Defense Equipment.


Questions relating to small and medium-sized enterprises are dealt with in the Aero-SME Committee.

GIFAS/SIAE Finance and Administration Department

This department is responsible for the accounting and financial management of GIFAS and the Paris Air Show (SIAE).

As such, it is the correspondent for GIFAS members for any question relating to contributions.

It also supervises the financial management of support programs for the sector piloted by GIFAS.

It provides human ressources management and ensures the proper functioning of GIFAS as well as welcoming its members and organizing meetings on its premises.

Finally, it manages the purchase of services for GIFAS and the Paris Air Show, and ensures the legal and administrative management of all the contracts in which GIFAS is involved.

Administrative, Legal Affairs and Mediation

The Administrative, Legal Affairs and Mediations Department examines all legislative, regulatory and administrative measures, reforms or provisions having an impact on the aeronautical and space industry. Its purpose is to support the entire profession in legal, contractual, tax and insurance matters.

Its interlocutors, in the field of its activities, are mainly French, community and international official bodies. It deals in particular for the benefit of suppliers with relations with the major French and international prime contractors on a contractual level.

The Economics and Defense Department collects and uses all of the profession's statistics and prepares sectoral analyzes. It coordinates the work of the GIFAS Defense Committee and brings its expertise in the fields of defense and security.

European and International Affairs

The European and International Affairs Department coordinates the work of the European Affairs Commission of GIFAS and CIDEF and provides the interface with the ASD: the European association of national professional unions. It provides the executive secretariat for the French delegation to the NIAG (Nato Industrial Advisory Group). It ensures the coordination within GIFAS of positions on European subjects which can be taken by the various committees.

With regard to International Affairs, the Department's mission is to support GIFAS members in their international development and to be their spokesperson with French official bodies for all issues related to export. International support is materialized by the federation of the French presence in foreign trade fairs, the organization of industrial missions, seminars or professional meetings, the animation of GIFAS offices, networks and committees abroad, lobbying actions with foreign authorities.

This Department also maintains relations with the French administration and other French professional organizations in order to facilitate the exportations activities of its members, on accompanying or control measures for weapons equipment.

The Department coordinates the work of the International Commission and its geographic and thematic working groups (compensation, ethics, export control, etc.).

Industrial Affairs

The Industrial Affairs Department covers the technical areas of companies outside of R&D and the environment.

The Industrial Committee, the Airworthiness, Quality, Customer Services and Information Technology Commissions as the Standardization relay, are therefore part of this Department. Bringing together all of these subjects within the same department ensures synergy between the different groups and guarantees the consistency of the work undertaken.


The Industrial Affairs Department, through these committees, is the privileged interlocutor for French government entities and the representative of the French position in European and international bodies for technical matters concerning it.

The Industrial Affairs Department is also required to manage projects for the sector, at the request of its members.

Public Affairs

The missions of the Public Affairs Department are in particular to raise awareness of the challenges of the French aerospace industry to its many and multiple institutional stakeholders and to raise awareness of the challenges of the profession. Institutional and parliamentary affairs are coordinated by the Public Affairs Department. Participation in parliamentary debates and hearings on the French aerospace industry. In-depth legislative, regulatory and political watch on parliamentary, legislative and political news relevant to the aerospace sector. It monitors official appointments to functions of interest to the profession.

R&D, Space et Environment Affairs

The R&D, Space et Environment Affairs Department coordinates the work of the R&D Commission, the Environment and Sustainable Development Commission as well as activities specific to the manufacturing space sector dealt with within the Space Commission. On these various issues, working groups lead high-level technical discussions (key technologies, REACH regulation, assessment of the carbon footprint of our industries, etc.) or strategic ones (funding and players in research, major programs aerospace industry, etc.).

In addition, the Department provides the Executive Secretariat of the Council for Civil Aeronautical Research (CORAC), jointly with the French DGAC, and the one of the State Industry Concertation Committee for Space (COSPACE), jointly with CNES.

It also monitors the work of the Frequencies Commission.

Social Affairs and Training

The Department of Social Affairs and Training draws up positions for the profession on regulatory and conventional matters in the social and training fields. It carries out studies and surveys on employment, classifications and salaries.

It carries out actions of partnership with the educational system aiming to favor the adaptation of training to our members requirements, information actions on jobs and training (Careers Plane of the Paris Air Show), business booklets, directory of aeronautical and space training ...). This department manages the collective agreement for Flight Attendants and Receptions.

Communications

The Communications Department develops strategies and implements actions to enhance the image of the profession in France and promote our industry internationally. It also carries out actions specific to the development of the Equipment and SMEs sectors.Its means of action are institutional communication, press relations, communication with parliamentarians, internal communication, actions in the regions, publication of brochures and newsletters, management of social media, public website, a secure site for GIFAS' members and the dissemination of a daily press summary.It manages the Paris Air Show communication, press accreditations and press center organisation.

International Paris Air Show

The Management organizes every two years the Paris Air Show through the SIAE company, a subsidiary of GIFAS. The 55th Paris Air Show will take place from June 16 to 22, 2025 at the Parc des Expositions du Bourget. This show is the first world event in the aerospace industry. In 2023, it welcomed 2,498 exhibitors, 130,000 professional visitors, 170,000 general public visitors, 1,850 journalists and 322 official delegations.
