GIFAS NEW ORGANIZATION IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

As announced during the last ASEAN committee, the organization of the GIFAS network in Southeast Asia has been modified, in order to encompass more countries and more companies. The country committees are replaced by an ASEAN committee, and include our members from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

This new organization comes along with the nomination of M. Anand Stanley as President, and M. François-Xavier Boutes and M. Arnaud Meziere as Vice-Presidents of the ASEAN committee.

Anand Stanley

Position

Anand Stanley is President Airbus Asia-Pacific, since 1 July 2020. Based in Singapore, he is leading the strategy and future positioning of Airbus and its divisions across the region. In this role he has responsibility for commercial aircraft sales and customer affairs, group-wide government affairs, industrial and joint venture partnerships, as well as the local operations at Airbus sites across the region. Anand Stanley works closely with the Heads of Region for the Airbus Helicopters and Defence and Space divisions who are co-located at the company’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore.

Career

Anand Stanley has an MBA from the University of Virginia-Darden in the US, a Bachelor of Engineering from Andhra University, as well as a postgraduate degree from IMI-Delhi.

He held senior positions in the civil aerospace, defence and helicopter markets, as well as in strategic management and M&A planning, having worked with the Linde Group, UTC, Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky. Over his career he has worked extensively internationally, with more than two decades of involvement in Asia and the Pacific region.

Anand Stanley joined Airbus in 2018 as President & Managing Director of Airbus India, where he has overseen the Airbus business development and advanced the company’s position with key stakeholders, including customers, government agencies and industry partners.

François-Xavier Boutes

Position

François-Xavier Boutes is Country Director Malaysia at Thales, since April 2020. Present in Malaysia since 1980, Thales proposes solutions and technologies for defence, security, transportation and aerospace. Thales locally employs over 250 people, including per sonnel from its joint venture Sapura Thales Electronics in the field of Communication Systems. François-Xavier Boutes is based in Kuala Lumpur. 

Career

François-Xavier Boutes has Master of Science (European Affairs) from the Institut d’Etudes Politique, as well as a Master of Science from the London School of Economics in Politics and Government.

He held positions at the European Space Agency and at the European Commission where he was an officer for the European External Action Service. He worked on the relationships with China, Taiwan, Hong-Kong and Mongolia.

François-Xavier Boutes joined Thales in 2010 and held several positions in diplomatic relations, sales and business development. Before his post in Malaysia, he has been Business Development Director for Eurasia, and Country Director Eastern Europe. His responsibilities included the coordination of all Thales activities in countries and heading local offices; Managing relationships with customers, partners and institutions; Identifying key opportunities and developing capture plans to secure high level of order intake; ensuring the achievement of contractual commitments and Group Profit & Loss (P&L).

Arnaud Meziere

Position

Arnaud Meziere is VP Strategy ASPAC at Airbus since January 2018. Based in Singapore, he works in close collaboration with Anand Stanley, whom he assists in the GIFAS actions.


Career

Arnaud Meziere has been working for Airbus group over the past 20 years, years, with vast experience in international cooperation for the group in Abu Dhabi (UAE) then the helicopter division (ex-Eurocopter) then for Airbus Military in Toulouse. He moved to Asia in 2008, as VP Industrial Globalization Asia Pacific, based in Bangkok before moving to Singapore in 2018.
Arnaud has a Master of Science from the engineering school ESIAE, as well as a MBA from Toulouse Business School.

Historical contract for the acquisition of 80 Rafale F4 by the United Arab Emirates

(Saint-Cloud, France, 3 December 2021) – In the presence of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Vice-Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation, signed a historical contract with Tareq Abdul Raheem Al Hosani, CEO of Tawazun Economic Council, in charge of security and defense acquisitions, for the acquisition of 80 Rafale F4 for the United Arab Emirates Air Force & Air Defence (UAE AF & AD).

European aviation industry launches "Destination 2050" and sets a target of zero net CO2 emissions by 2050

European aviation stakeholders (airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers and air navigation service providers), meeting within ACI Europe, A4E, ASD, CANSO and ERA, are unveiling their new roadmap to make air travel more sustainable.

GIFAS, a member of ASD, supports this initiative and is associated with the launch of Destination 2050.
